One common comment I hear from clients is that they are worried that their home is too small or not gram-worthy enough for an in home session and honestly, it makes me so sad to hear. I wanted to share these photos of me and my daughter taken by my husband in our tiny home, to show you that you don’t need to have the big house to have sweet memories.
We rent a small two bedroom unit that is 117m2, built in 1995 and half our furniture is still from when we lived in a share house. My daughter’s nursery quickly became our storage room when she outgrew her bassinet but wasn’t ready to be in her own room and there was not enough room to put her crib in our room with the furniture in there already.
What you see in these photos are loving moments between my daughter and I. What you don’t see is the absolute chaos that is carefully out of frame.
As much as I’d love a big home with lots of natural light and the space for a perfectly styled lifestyle studio, that’s just not where we are at right now. And by no means do I expect you to be there either.
Give me a bed and a couch, and I’ll make it magic. I can bring a Moses basket and some blankets if we’re capturing newborn photos or, if you’ve got a big window, we can always use that. What matters most isn’t the home, it’s the people in the photos.
If you’re interested in booking an in-home session, I’d love to chat.
